PHD CAMP: Featuring Penn State Univ. Hockey Coaching Staff |
| An instructional camp based on positional specific skills, flow drills to reinforce those skills, and small games to develop hockey sense and further enhance skills. | ||||||
|
INSTRUCTIONAL FORMAT: The on-ice format will not only involve dividing players by age Groups (A, B, & C), but the players will be further divided on the ice by skill level so that kids learn at the appropriate pace. This division will also allow for a smaller coach-to-player ratio, so that instruction on a one-on-one basis is maximized. WHAT THEY'LL LEARN & PRACTICE: Each group will have ten (10) total on-ice hours with top college hockey coaches from Penn State University! Players will work on: Skating stride, speed, strength, and quickness; Stick-Handling, when and how to use it properly in addition to proper technique; Passing, stationary and on the move, how to pass accurately and smartly; Shooting, backhands, wrists, snaps, slaps and redirects mechanics and how to score; Puck Protection by getting the body between the opponent and the puck to keep possession, Checking with use of the body and the stick, as well as Hockey Sense with the concepts of time and space, quick decision making and smart hockey plays!
