BRENDAN ROACHE, PHD HEAD FORWARD SKILLS COACH!

Brendan Roache has joined the PHD instructional team as our main forward skills coach! Roache played at Gonzaga before doing a PG year at Northfield Mount Herman Prep (MA). He went on the play two years of varsity with Hamline Univ (MN) NCAA D-III before transferring to Penn State where he was on the 2003 ACHA National Championship team!

Roache will be available for lessons on most weekends and Mondays, so take advantage of this opportunity to improve your skills!

THE WALLY CUP HOLIDAY CLASSIC 2010

On December 26, 2010, THE WALLY CUP took place at Reston Skate Quest. Competing for the opportunity to skate the coveted Wally Cup were 8 Squirt teams, 12 Pee Wee teams and 8 Bantam teams.

Shooting Range for Passing, Shooting, Stick Handling Work

In this shooting range area, players can focus on skills training with the addition of movement.

Passing, Shooting, Stick Handling, all while skating is the main goal of this section. Also, learn how to pick the puck off the boards quickly and cleanly and work with the Swedish Pugi Puck, an oversized puck to assist with shot technique and strength.

Rinks Open to 80’ Skating Lane

Open the two big doors that separate the main rink from the back rink and you can create an eighty (80) foot skating lane that is ten feet wide!

Skating stride work has never been so cool and challenging at the same time!

Bigger Main Rink

Our main training rink has expanded to 40’ x 40’ giving users even more space in which to develop.

The uses of this space include:

* 2 on 2 games

* Private/Semi-Private/Group lessons

* Team positioning walk-through

* Portion of 80’ skating lane

* And much more…

Expanded Pro Shop

PHD now has a pro shop located within the facility!

Off-Ice Training & Conditioning

PHD now has an area of the faciltiy dedicated to improving your game with off-ice training.

Available for use are ladders, hurdles, slide boards, box jumps, a bench press, dumbells, resistence bands, medicine balls, and much more.

Our staff uses these tools to increase your total body strength, cardiovascular conditioning and coordination.

Get Ice at Home

Like PHD, you can create a home rink so that your hockey player can practice more, improve his/her skills, and enjoy playing the great game of ice hockey even more!

We will help you through the entire rink process from installing our own brand of ice, "Rocket Ice", to consultation with the placement of dasher boards, if so desired.

We have installed rinks in basements, garages, and even in driveways! No freezers or cooling of any kind!

Home of The Goalie Academy

PHD is the home of The Goalie Academy! The Mid-Atlantic's leading goalie skill development program.

The Goalie Academy trains goalies of all age levels and is the official goalie coaches of The Washington Little Capitals, Washington Junior Capitals, and Washington Junior Nationals. They are also the goalie coaches for The Hershey Junior Bears Tier 1 program.
